Standard Gas
Port Huron, MI

As you pass through the town of Port Huron, MI, you will encounter an old Standard Gas Station that has been immaculately restored. It is now used as a visitor center for a large development being built on the water front. The building in the background is now gone and there is a chain around the property now. The pumps are interesting as the part of the island they reside (the red part) on is actually on wheels. They jack it up when the center is closed and roll them into one of the bays. 01-07

(Below) Here is an old station called Perrysburg's Low Priced Station found in Perrysburg, Ohio. This is still one of the early gas stations and it matched the streetscape well (not shown here). The photos were taken in 1993. I went by a year or two later and it was gone, replaced by your typical nondescript affair with a large canopy. The streetscape is certainly not as charming as it once was. Many thanks to Richard Weiss for photos and info. 1-07

This Amoco gas station in Dearborn, MI was once a Standard Oil gas station. Then again, this location was once home to Amoco. The gas station was demolished in 2006. 02-07

Here is a pic of the old Standard Oil Station in Monroe, Michigan. This one, unlike all the others, is in fact still used as a garage. Neat and tidy inside, kind of amazing for such an old gas station. The office section is loaded with oil memorabilia. 08-08
