South Drive-in
Columbus OH

The last of the ozone soldiers that once were plentiful throughout the land, the South Drive-in is the only one left in Columbus, Ohio. Sporting All-American colors on the marquee, this drive-in is a can't miss site. If you are in town during movie season, snake a parking spot, grab some greasy popcorn, and take a picture or two. Hurry, someday the "Closed for the season" lettering will say "Ready for demolition."

Here is the Dixie Drive-In of Vandalia Ohio. This is the original site of many roadside stories. One fable has it that a roadside warrior's buddy almost impaled himself when he saw this sign. Fact or Fiction? I would circle the latter.

Springmill Drive-In
OH

Quite possibly the nicest drive-in in all of Ohio is the Springmill Drive-In. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. An open air movie a day keeps the doctor away. Yes, a tired but true phrase.

Located in a very picturesque setting, the Sundance Kid Drive-in is a great place to catch an open-air movie.

Here's the Bel-Air Drive-in in Cicero, IL. This drive-in still appeared to be in great shape, showing first run movies, at least as of a few years ago.

Update 07/04 : This drive-in closed down soon after these photos were taken. Yes, another ozoner has now become just a memory. 07-04

Joliet, IL

The Hill-Top Drive-in stands proudly in pristine condition, waiting for the sun to set. This Drive-in in Joliet sits on a well-maintained lot. The grounds appeared spotless when this photo was taken in 2001.

Update 07/04 : The Hill-Top closed down sometime in 2001. 07-04

Update 03/07 : The Hilltop Drive-in Theatre in Joliet, IL will be re-opening in April 2007 after being closed since 2001. Here is their new website. Many thanks to David for update 03-07
