Just north of Kenton is the Hi-Road Drive-in Theatre. This drive-in was closed during the off season. According to the M.E. Theatres website, the HI-Road Drive In was built in the 1940’s and has a lot capable of holding over 600 cars. The owners, the Millers, are looking to install a new larger screen closer to the size of the original screen tower that had been blown down in the early 1970's, as well as a lighted entrance and exit signs. 06-07
The Cascade Drive-in Theatre in Chicago features a relatively nondescript marquee. However, this ozoner has proved to pull in many cars on a given evening.
In Columbia, MO is the Sky Hi Drive-in Theatre. This roadside treasure which opened up in the 1960's has been demolished as of 2006.
Off Route 79 in Heath, Ohio is a true abandoned theatre. The Heath Drive-In has been closed for at least 10 years, as estimated by one carbon-14 test. The screen is "nondescript and very weedy."
Here's the marquee for the Skyway Drive-in Theatre, which originally opened in 1950 and is a single screener. The Skyway Drive-In is located in Door County at 3475 Highway 42, Fish Creek, Wisconsin 54212, halfway between Fish Creek and Ephraim, directly across from Peninsula State Park. It is still in operation. I shot this photo this past July and yes, spent an evening under the stars at this great old Drive-In. 12-06
The Sunset Drive-in and this faded marquee is located in Mansfield, OH along Route 30. 02-08
Here's the marquee for the Linden Air Drive-in Theatre of Columbus, OH. Closed for some time, the sign still stands, such as it is, and the screen is still standing too. For how much longer is any one's guess. Check out the Skyview Drive-in theatre and its space themed mural on top of the marquee. The drive-in can be seen right off the main drag in Belleville.
