The 7 Seas Motel was one of three motels located across from the Soo Locks. In June and August of 2008, the motel looked to be closed along with the gift shop of the same name. The 7 Seas was located above and also behind the gift shop. 12-08
Visions of relaxation when the name Rest a While Motel pops up after a long and hard drive. Unfortunately, there is no motel left here, just a small pile of rubble and an overgrown lot. 12-08
The Captain's Quarters Motel is still operating and the sign looks to be functional. It is located along the US 31 route that bypassed Saugatuck. 12-08
The Pines Motel is located in Douglas, MI, just across the Kalamazoo River. Although I don't think the sign is too terribly old, the motel is a 50's-60's mom and pop place and the sign was designed to resemble an older version. 12-08
The Shangrai-La Motel sits on the newer US 31 a mile or so NE of Saugatuck, MI. 12-08
The Ship 'n Shore Motel is located just a block off of the older alignment in downtown Saugatuck sitting on the banks of the Kalamazoo River. Summer visitors can sit along the river and watch and endless number of pleasure boats going back and forth between the docks in town and Lake Michigan. 12-08
The Campbell's Motel sign features what looks to be a camel on its top. Campbell's Motel is located in Scottsburg, IN. 02-09
Here's the motel sign for the Rose Dale Motel in Rochester, IN. This small mom and pop place is still operating even though it is now bypassed by the four lane US 31 highway. The sign itself says "modern all year" as part of its marquee. 02-09
Check out this standout sign at the Wishing Well Motel. The motel features a wishing well image within its brightly colored sign. The Wishing Well Motel is located in the Indiana town of Whiteland. 02-09
Here's an old postcard shot of the Columbus Motor Lodge in Columbus, OH. It appears that the motel is still there though the sign has changed. According to the back of the postcard, the Columbus Motor Lodge is located at 3984 E. Main St. Route 40, in Columbus, Ohio. The motel features "Air Conditioned, Family Accommodations, Complete Efficiency Apt's. Playground. New Beautiful Heated Swimming Pool. Guest Laundromat. Nicely Appointed Rooms with T.V. and Room Coffee. Nearby Shopping Center, Bowling, and Fine Restaurants. Phone 237-5485". 02-09
