Main | Architecture | Auto | Bowling | Drive-ins | Eateries | Motels | Neon | Retrolook Watching a movie at an open-air theatre is a must have experience, especially in the tropical climate of Florida. Or else, turn on a heat lamp and check out these ozoners here at Roadside Peek's Florida Drive-ins.
Silver Moon Drive-in additional views The Silver Moon originally opened up on April 14, 1948. Today, the Silver Moon frequently shows first run movies on its two screens. More info

A drive-in that has caught the Y2K frenzy is Pinellas Park. The ticket booth is fresh off a gondola ride with a wide wingspan to boot.
This drive-in, originally called the Stereo Drive-in, is open seasonally. Currently, the theatre shows religious themed movies and accepts donations for attendees.

Update 06/04 : In 2002 this drive-in movie theater succumbed to development, and now a brand new Wal-Mart Supercenter stands in its place. Many thanks to Brian Koepnick for this update. 06-04
Located here is an old drive-in, remnants of which still remain in Florida. The Tower Drive-in, sporting a rather tall tower, no longer shows first-run movies.
To the bottom left is a Microsoft Terraserver image of the Tower Drive-in. Notice the wavy parking lot area, where the parking humps can still be seen. Location of image courtesy Andy Callahan
Here is the Auto Park Drive-in. Shown below are the sides of the
lot near to where the screen tower once stood.
These views are typical of what's left of many ozoners from decades past. Photo courtesy Andy Callahan
