If you're ever in the Albuquerque New Mexico area, check out the Owl Cafe. It's worth the drive just to check out the huge owl the adorns the rooftop. It's a "hoot!" (okay, okay)

This is a sister restaurant of the original Owl in San Antonio, NM, just south of Socorro off I-25. Best green chili cheeseburgers around. This Owl was probably built in the late 80's/early 90's. The original started up in the mid 1940's. Many thanks to Steve Terrell for above info.

Ever get a chance to "sleep in a wigwam"? If you're traveling Route 66 and passing by Rialto, California or Holbrook, AZ, you are in luck! The Wigwam Motels that still remain are grand roadside treasures.

This location in Holbrook, AZ is considered Wigwam Village Motel #6 and remains to this day (2011) as a favorite destination for folks on a road trip and Route 66 fans as it stands in great condition off of Hopi Drive. The Holbrook Wigwam was built in 1950 by Chester Lewis. Today, two other locations remain in Cave City, KY and Rialto, CA.
