Owl Lodge Apartments UPDATE 04/09 : The Owl Lodge in Tucson, AZ has now been turned into apartments, like many of the other old non-chain roadside motels in the area. The sign for the Owl Lodge remains and appears to have been recently restored. The section under the main part of the sign has been changed from advertising "vacancy" and "kitchenettes" to the fact that the location now houses apartments. 04-09
The Copa Inn in Phoenix features a large sign and advertises adult movies. UPDATE 12/08 : The Copa Inn off of East Van Buren was demolished in 2007. Another of Van Buren's roadside motel treasures is now history. 12-08
The Travelers Motel in Tempe shows off it sign that appears to be from the 70's or so.
Plainsman Motel Yet another Mesa motel marquee, the Plainsman Motel sign here looks somewhat similar to the one in Holbrook, AZ.
Though not quite a motel per se, the Pueblo Hotel and its swimmer on top of the marquee is an example of the type of motel signage that used to be quite prevalent, especially in the hot and dry areas of the Southwest.
Here's a nice neon sign for the Buckhorn Baths Motel, one of the roadside motels found off the main drag in Mesa. The young buck character can be seen peeking up over the top of the marquee.
At left is the marquee for the Copper Motel in Superior, AZ. Parts of the sign are now missing, somewhat common for some of these old signs.
Here's another marquee found in Mesa. The Hiway Host Motel features a name that's somewhat commonly found as you travel the roadside. This sign will do the Hiway Host name proud with its colors and prominent starburst on the top of the sign. The palm trees on site also add to the look.
Quarter Horse Motel UPDATED 04/09 : The Quarter Horse Motel in Benson, AZ, just south of Tucson, has had its sign repainted in recent years. The "quarter horse" on the marquee still rears its head proudly off the Arizona roadside. 04-09
