Referring to its roots alongside the 99, the Motel 99 in Redding looks to be an old motor court that is still in business.

The Woodland Court features one of those signs that exhibit character from its sun baked colors to the vintage lettering.
As you travel up or down Route 99 near Stockton, you will run smack dab into the Cozy Motel.
Still takes the BankAmericard and is located off old Highway 40.
Check out the Knotty Pine Motel in Stockton, CA. This sign is a pretty good size and can be seen from blocks away. Well, at least 1/2 a block away. Check out a neon shot of the marquee.

Here's a black and white shot of the Western Motel cactus marquee in Santa Clara. The motel appears to have a ranch theme. According to this site, Western Motel was built in 1948 along El Camino with the sign being added in 1959. The good news is that this motel marquee still survives through 2010.
