The Experience Lodge is a familiar sight for those that traveled along old West Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento. One of the first motels around the corner after heading west over the bridge, The Experience Lodge was known as a seedy place with a great sign. Unfortunately for roadside fans, the motel was closed and eventually demolished in April 2008. This sign for The Crest Motel in Ukiah, CA still stands tall with its woodsy themed marquee.
As you hit the road, you undoubtedly come across a neon rooftop marquee or two spelling out the words "MOTEL" to the tired traveler. Here's one for the Edgewater Motel in the Northern California town of Willits.
Here's a nice roadside sign outside of the Rancho Grande Motel in Lodi, CA. Fancy the palm tree and snoozing siesta in this once quiet and once rural community.
