NEON MOTELS SAN DIEGO

Fabulous 7 Motel
El Cajon, CA

Check out the Fabulous 7 Motel in El Cajon. Or check in and see if the lodging facilities are as mysterious as the marquee itself is.

Log Cabin
Encinitas, CA

Check out this old roadside court called the Log Cabin. This Encinitas roadside stop is an interesting alternative to the standard motel.

Holiday Motel
San Diego, CA

This old marquee sits in the parking lot of the Holiday Lodge Motel. Yes you can also park your TV here.

Dolphin Hotel
Oceanside, CA

Yes, yes, the sign does say "hotel" and not "motel". The marquee screams motel though, so the Dolphin Hotel has a home on this motels page for the time being. From the looks of things, it appears that the marquee lettering is of the neon variety. Wonder what the sign looks like at night.

Trade Winds Motel
San Diego, CA

Off Mission Bay Dr. near Sea World is the Trade Winds Motel. A relatively common name among motels (due to its tiki-ish feel?) this motel sports a familiar marquee look.

(Near right) A close-up of the marquee

(Far right) Another of the marquees at the site

(Below) The Mt Vernon Inn in Escondido sports not just one but two marquee pointing the way to the motel. The two signs appear to have been built in two different eras from the looks of things. 05-05

Tower Lodge Motel (Demolished)
Chula Vista, CA

This old sign is for the Tower Lodge Motel in Chula Vista, CA. This sign design is common and was once part of a chain. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the 35 year old Tower Lodge was to be demolished in 2007 and replaced with apartments. 12-08
