Here's another classic ten pin alley marquee ... it's the Beverly Bowl. It's a great place, circa 1960. Nice little original coffee shop they call the AMF Laneside Cafe.

Hmm... what's this sign by the side of the road with the multicolored starbursts? Oh, it's Premiere Lanes, with a still good lookin' sign after all these years. UPDATE 05/08 : The Premiere Lanes in Santa Fe Springs closed it doors for good on May 18th, 2008. The bowling center lost its land lease and will be torn down. Many thanks to Lloyd Stone for update. 05-08 UPDATE 06/10 : Premiere Lanes is now in the process of being demolished. The sign has been designated as a historical landmark. UPDATE : Java Lanes in Long Beach, CA closed its doors on May 31, 2004. It has been replaced by a town home community. So no where will they go to bowl? It was the last of Long Beach's bowling centers. Many thanks to Rick Medina, former youth director at Java Lanes for update.
If you're from the San Gabriel Valley and think of Santa Anita, the Santa Anita Racetrack comes to mind with its grandstand, flags, and the like. Well, this marquee for the Santa Anita Bowl maintains this feel. Unfortunately, the bowling was razed over last year.
Here's a good lookin' A-frame type bowling alley. The joint is a bit run down but at least its still open. UPDATE : The Clark Bowl is now closed. Thanks to Andre Eubanks for update.

The Wagon Wheel Bowling in Oxnard features a good lookin' marquee
that still lights up the sky at night.
The cocktail bar is great at the Beverly Bowl it's
called THE MASQUERADE! Check out the costumed figures inside.
Java Lanes in Long Beach is another good ten pin alley spot that
still displays its Polynesian roots. From the unique sign out front to
the building itself, Java Lanes is a pretty cool place.
