Not sure why this crying fella has a pin on his nose at a restaurant. UPDATE 10/02 : Twohey's was originally a drive-in burger stand/ restaurant complete with roller-skating car hops and window trays. Twohey's billed itself as the home of the stink-o burger, essentially a hamburger smothered with grilled onions. The character on the sign is the head of a waiter logo, who originally carried a tray with stink-o burger on it, hence the clothespin and tears. The stink-o and other burger stand fare are still available on the menu but sadly the car hops and drive-in are long gone and the restaurant has shifted to a family dining environment. This neon sign for Tolteca features a tamale creatively places in the midst of a sign arrow. The neon still is in great condition.
The sign for the Talpa Mexican Food restaurant features a neon figure huddle under a cactus. This sign still lights up the roadside along the western part of Los Angeles.
The Hat features some of the best pastrami and neon around. The original Hat is still located in Alhambra.
Looking to grab a quick burger at night. Well, Johnny Rockets is one stop you can make.
Another good nighttime roadside stop is King Taco in East Los Angeles. Grab a few Al Pastor tacos and you're on your way.

Check out the vintage sign at the very first In-N-Out Burger location in Baldwin Park. Not sure if the clock still works, but the neon sure brightens up the sky.
