For those entering the Las Vegas Strip from the south end, the Klondike Casino on the east end is a familiar sight. At least until the casino closed in June 2006.

The Klondike was previously a Motel 6 and was converted into the Klondike in 1978 with a casino, restaurant, bar, lounge, and hotel. According to the Las Vegas Sun, the property first opened in 1962 and will be demolished to make room for a much larger hotel and casino. 07-07

The Holy Cow Casino located just north of Sahara on Las Vegas Boulevard was a place to stop over on a hot day if only to visit the brewery and cafe. Open since 1992, the Holy Cow was also well known for its roadside cow standing atop the roof in front of a rainbow as well as the cow theme used throughout.

The Holy Cow Casino closed its doors sometime IN 2002 due to lease problems, and after being planned to turn into the Ivana Trump condos is now to be the future home of Liberty Towers. 12-08
