Main | Boulder Hwy | Downtown | Neon | North Vegas | Vegas Strip Check out some of the old motels that still can be found in the Vegas downtown area, many of which are on Fremont Street.
The Purple Sage Motel keeps to its premise... with a purple sign.
Safari Motel The Safari Motel features a name that fits in with a city built in the middle of a desert.
(Left) The Desert Hills Motel on Fremont Street features a relatively nondescript, yet classic sign. The sign appears to be a recent replacement.
(Left) The Hialeah Motel proudly proclaims that its has TV. The 1924 appears to be an address, not a vintage date. Unfortunately, like many of the old motel marquee masterpieces along Fremont Street, the neon on this motel sign no longer works.
Another cool sign off Fremont Street is that for the Lucky Lady Motel.
Alongside the Fremont Street Experience is the neon museum and one of its first signs, the Chief Hotel Court.
Here's another typical Vegas sign for the Ponderosa Motel.
Another theme motel is the Par-A-Dice Motel. Would have been great to see this place in its heyday, before having to resort to live-in rates.
Vegas Chalet Motel (Removed) To the right... You can't have motels in Vegas without some reference to the city of sin. Well, here's a couple. The Vegas Motel and its still vintage marquee and the Vegas Chalet with its huge downward arrow. UPDATE 05/06 : The sign for the Vegas Chalet Motel is no more and has been gone for several years. 05-06
