Monterey Motel

The Monterey Motel features a well lit neon marquee that captures your eye as you turn around the bend along Central Avenue. This Monterey is unique as it proclaims itself as a "non-smokers motel". By the looks of things, the place is also popular as the no vacancy sign was lit. 10-08

Pony Soldier Motel (Closed)
Tucumcari, NM Photo by RoadsidePeek.com
The Pony Soldier Motel is one of the old roadside motels that is still open along historic Tucumcari Boulevard in Tucumcari. Well, at least it used to be open. Unfortunately, although the motel still remains, the Pony Soldier's doors appeared to have been closed as of Summer 2008. The sign no longer lights at night as the motel stands vacant. 10-08
UPDATE 07/10 : The motel itself has been demolished, though the sign itself is still standing. 07-10
