Neon roadside motel signs like the Sun Valley Motel can be found throughout Texas. See some of them here at Roadside Peek's Neon Motels Texas.
A must see sight for Route 66 aficionados is the Cowboy Motel in Amarillo, Texas. The marquee is still in pristine shape and features a lifelike cowboy with a welcoming grin as big as the Lone Star state.
Check out this roadside delight of a sign at the Caravan Motor Hotel in Fort Worth Texas. Fancy palm trees out here.
The Don-Mar Motel and its streamline era sign hasn't fared as well as the Austin Motel above. This place is for sale and waiting to be brought back to its former glory. The Don-Mar was built in 1935.
Don Mar Motel marquee UPDATE 10/06 : The Don-Mar Motor Court on S Congress Avenue was still open as long term lodging in September, 2006. The green and yellow sign to the right of the marquee showed that the motel is still for sale. 10-06
Though not a motel per se, the sign for the Wagon Wheel Apartments is worth a mention on this page.
The Sunset Inn marquee stands tall along the highway and is reminiscent of some of the casino signage (Sunset Station) found in Las Vegas.
The Mesa Motel is another old roadside motel that tries to lure the tired motorist with low rates.
The Austin Motel shown here is still in good shape with its circa 1936 vintage marquee. Well, at least the motel is. Curious to see what it looks like at night?
Though the Stardust Motel does not quite identify with its name, the design and paint scheme of this old motel looks to date back to the 50's.
