The Peterboro Diner in Peterboro, New Hampshire is absolutely gorgeous. It predates the stainless steel movement with its enameled exterior. The spotless interior features beautiful original tile work and cast aluminum stools. Many thanks to Jay Lin for above information.

A great diner to stop at while in Pennsylvania is the Summit Diner.  While you're in the Somerset area, stop by the Summit for some excellent food and great coffee for the road. Snap a few photos of the twisting marquee sign while you're at it.

Red Robin Diner

The Red Robin Diner is a good place to stop for a bit if you're in the Johnson City area of New York. A good looking East Coast looking diner, the Red Robin features the classic stainless steel exterior.

Lee's Diner

Lee's Diner in West York is no exception to the fine roadside diners that dot the East. From its austere yet dynamic marquee to the classic diner exterior, Lee's Diner is a must see stop if you are in the area.

UPDATE 06/07 : The '52 Mountainview is still true to its roots, and it made for a very authentic diner experience. On this particular Saturday morning, Omar and the wait staff were slammed, but they still took time to chat and fill my coffee cup whenever they passed by.
