Here's a nice shot of an old vintage theatre, the Pitman Theatre in Gadsden, AL. This is right across the street from a good looking roadside cafe.

To the left is a close-up of the Pitman blade sign. Looks like much of the sign itself is working neon.

 

 

Park Terrace Theater

Charlotte, NC is also home to the Park Terrace Theater. The marquee and building look well-preserved. Check out the starburst on top of the marquee.

Check out the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN. This movie palace befits its famous name.

This art deco theater still appears to be in great shape. Check out the Rialto Theatre in Brinkley, AR, a flashback to the era when a classic theatre was a central point of main street.

 

 

Plaza Theatre

Glasgow, KY is home to the Plaza Theatre. This theater is supposedly undergoing renovation.

Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Theatre is a vacant movie palace located in Lebanon, TN. This mid-century theatre closed down in the 1970's.

 

 

Trustees Theatre (formerly Weis Theatre)
Savannah, GA

Here's a theatre marquee for the Savannah College of Art and Design, located in where else but Savannah, GA. Check out the vertical marquee on the Trustees Theatre.

The Trustees Theatre was known as the Weis Theatre when it opened its doors back in 1946 before closing in 1980 as downtown no longer became the only place in town to see a show. Today, the Trustees Theatre is home to the performing arts department for the SCAD, hence the name on the marquee. For more information, see the official website for the Trustees Theatre.

 

 

Lucas Theatre
Savannah, GA

The Lucas Theatre in Savannah, GA opened in late 1921 and remained open for over half a century. After closing down due to attendance in the mid 1970's, the theatre survived multiple threats of demolition and was finally restored and reopened again in 2000.
