Vineland Drive-in Theatre Screen
City of Industry, CA

Vineland Drive-in Theater before remodel

Although not technically a "lost treasure" as this drive-in is still operating as a theater and swap meet, the Vineland recently replaced both its signature main screen tower and marquee.

Word is the screen tower became structurally unsafe, hence is replacement back in October 2003. But why the marquee?

The good news is this drive-in is still operating, though its the only one left open in Los Angeles and Orange Counties as of April 2004. The bad news is this treasure has been stripped of its character, now relegated to literally just a shell of its old self.

Here are a couple of shots of the Vineland as it stands as of April 2004. Move your cursor over the photos to get an "after" vs. "before" view of this drive-in. Check out the difference in size of the screen tower when comparing the old to the new.

Many thanks to Sal Garcia for tip on marquee replacement.
