Let's see... first there are burgers at a joint that looks like a burger. Next, a hot meal inside a parasol? At the Parasol restaurant in Seal Beach, you can do just that. If only all parasols were in such great a shape.

Here are a couple of former Chili Bowl restaurants still found in Southern California. The Chili Bowl chain started in 1931. Owner and programmatic entrepreneur Arthur Whizin used to offer raffled rides on the Chili Bowl airplane. The cafes phased out when World War II started, leaving only the Pico Boulevard Chili Bowl open to feed Santa Monica Douglas aircraft workers.

Located in Pottstown, PA this cup-shaped building was built back in the 40's by a local dairy to sell milk, etc. Since the 60's, The Cup has been a landmark local diner, and home of the Texas Tommy hot dog. Here's the website for this roadside classic www.pottstowncup.com.
