An old classic burned out motel. That's the Sundowner Motel near the Salton Sea. Although the joint no longer takes in travelers, the sign still reflects an era that once was.

Ever heard of the Gorilla Villa? How about the "headless" Gorilla Villa? Well, the Gorilla Villa sign in gorilla... 'er... Gravois Mills, MO used to have a head until a storm ripped the head off a few years back. Now, this headless sign can't help but turn the head of the roadside traveler passign through. Unless, of course, the traveler is used to seeing headless apparitions.
The Penn Aire Motel features a few different marquees outside advertising its services. This place is located in Breezewood, PA.
The Desert Inn Motel in Shoshoni, Wyoming features an interesting looking marquee. Although, the name Desert Inn is relatively common across the roadside landscape, this sign is one of the best.
Fancy the mid-century colors on this sign! Grab some guacamole and head on over to the Klose-in Motel in Seattle. Not sure if the clock still works, but heck it is a great sign!
Here's the Candlelight Motel of Columbus, GA. This motel is located on the main thoroughfare between Columbus and Fort Benning.
Along with the retro sign, the Sunset Terrace Motel of Sarasota, Florida seems to have much of its original lawn furniture out front.

A must see sight for Route 66 afficianados is the Cowboy Motel in Amarillo, Texas. The marquee is still in pristine shape and features a lifelike cowboy with a welcoming grin as big as the LoneStar state.
The Desert Hills Motel along Route 66 still lights up the sky in Oklahoma City.
