Drive-in Theatres Florida

Located here is an old drive-in, remnants of which still remain in Florida. The Tower Drive-in, sporting a rather tall tower, no longer shows first-run movies.

The lot of the Tower, operated by Floyd Theatres, once held 300 cars. But the traces of the screen base and its empty lot illustrate what once was... and what could have still been.

To the bottom left is a Microsoft Terraserver image of the Tower Drive-in. Notice the wavy parking lot area, where the parking humps can still be seen. Location of image courtesy Andy Callahan

UPDATE 06/06 : Being one of the last single screen drive in's, the Ocala Drive-in is currently showing a triple feature of Cars, Click, and Fast and Furious 3. All for $5.00! That is a real bargain! Many thanks to Bryan Otto for update. 06-06

UPDATE 11/10 : The Ocala Drive In is suppose to re-open again some time next month for movies. The Drive-In has been closed now for 3 years. It's good that this one is re-opening again. Many thanks to David Hughes for update. 11-10

UPDATE 05/12 : The Ocala Drive reopened again back in October of 2011 and is now going strong. Many thanks to David Hughes for update. 05-12
