Neon Signage Northern California

Cole's Markets

This sign for the Cole's Markets in Pleasantville, CA is a real neon delight. The marquee has a nice script lettering for "Cole's" contrasting with the rest of the sign, including the starburst apostrophe. Of course the neon on the sign was fully working when this photo was taken. 10-09

Here's a towering marquee at the Moraga Center in town of the same name. From the looks of the sign, it appears to date back several decades though the lettering is most likely of recent vintage. 10-09

The neon glow of this sign at Al's Food Market is eye-catching here in Castro Valley. The green neon letters for the "Al's" portion of the marquee makes the sign pop out to travelers passing through town looking for a place to stock up for snacks and water. 10-09

Check out this close-up look at the Lodi Arch. The neon lighting on the arch captures the mood of the area as dusk sets in. The California Golden Bear is glowing at the top of the arch.

This 40-foot wide arch hanging over Pine Street is a California Registered Historical Landmark and was designed by Architect E.B. Brown back in 1907. It's original purpose for being built was the the Tokay Carnival, the first Lodi Grape Festival. In 1956, the arch was reconstructed after being declared a safety hazard.

For more information see the Lodi City Council website. 10-09
