The Bunker Hill Laundry is an old abandoned laundry business that dates back to the era when various types of businesses were within walking distance. Well, perhaps not... but this is an old business nonetheless.
This old retro sign for RCA Victor dates back to the day when a television repair shop was just down the street and the mega electronic store was yet to be conceived.
(Far left) A close up of the Jesus Coffee Shop and some sort of theatre looking place next door (Near left) A view of downtown St Louis, MI, not to be confused with the city with the Arch in Missouri
Here's a shot of Albert's Jewelers, the last business in Indiana Harbor (East Chicago) which has now relocated to Schererville. Word has been that they wanted to reuse the sign for the back of the new Schererville store. Not sure if it survived. 10-08
Here's an old local TV repair shop found in the Illinois town of Vandalia. Clymer TV still has its old signs with a rusted out bulb arrow pointing the way in to the business. 11-08
Vandalia is also home to this neon sign in the front of this business, this one called Jane Isbell which is a jewelry store. 11-08
UPDATE 01/11 : The store which dates back to the mid-century is now closed. Many thanks to Chet Wilson for update. 01-11
Here's a flashback of an old storefront found in Rockford, IL. The Freeport Rug & Linoleum Co. located along E. Main still features its familiar lettering. 09-10
Check out the neon lettering on the Stanton Shoes sign above the storefront in Beloit, WI. This old shoe store is another flashback to the era before strip malls. 11-10
