R.J. Reynolds Tobacco
Winston-Salem, NC

The R.J. Reynolds Tobacco plant in Winston-Salem, NC had few signs of activity and in fact the oldest part is in the process of being converted into condo's. The companies office is located a few blocks away downtown Winston-Salem in a small art deco skyscraper. 12-07

(Far left) The front of the plant with the R J Reynolds Tobacco Company name prominently featured above the door. This could turn out to be quite an entranceway for folks entering these condos.

 

Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Building

Greensboro, NC is home to the fabulous old Jefferson Standard Life Insurance building. There was an enormous addition put on to this a few years ago with somewhat of an attempt to carry on the character of the original structure.

The 17 story building was built in the early 1920's and is now home to the Lincoln ?financial Group. 02-09

Grimes Mill
Salisbury, NC

The Grimes Mill in Salisbury, NC dates from 1896 and is now owned by the City of Salisbury. According to the Historic Salisbury Foundation Inc., the Grimes Mill is a Second Empire style Victorian roller mill and was purchased by the foundation in 1982. 02-09

Flatiron Building
Atlanta, GA

The Flatiiron Building in Atlanta, GA is located at the intersection of Peachtree and Broad Streets. The Flatiron is the oldest steel-framed skyscraper still standing in Atlanta and was built in 1897. This Flatiron Building was built 5 years before New York's own Flatiron. 04-09
