Woodward Park Drive-in Theatre
Fresno, CA

The American drive-in movie scene was a healthy industry up until the 1970s and 1980s. The Woodward Park Drive-in Theater opened up right in the midst of the tail end of the peak in 1978 after another drive-in theater called the Starlite closed down and was a big part of the industry serving Fresno and the Central Valley.

Unfortunately, the Woodward Park closed down and was demolished rather quickly in drive-in years. The outdoor theater completed demolition in June 2002. Of course a couple of big box stores took its place as was the pattern in the 2000s. Yes, a Costco and Home Depot replaced the drive-in theater in 2003.
