Here's the A-frame building for the IHOP located in Hayward, CA.
The Melaka Restaurant sits in San Bruno looking for coffee shop patrons. This former Lyons still looks like its ready to blast off.
The rooftop signage of the Ranch Coffee Shop in Stockton looks like its still neon.
Check out the coffee shop for Zack's The boomerang roof and marquee is typical for the coffee shop era.
Here is the Lyons Restaurant on the corner of El Camino Ave and Watt Ave in Sacramento. It closed in 2004, and now this beauty of Googie style sits waiting. This is as it appears October 2005 and may eventually be torn down. Ironically, a graffiti artist has painted the word "HOPE" on the side kitchen door. 10-05 Below are additional photos of the Lyons Restaurant, including the interior eating area. 11-05
Update 05/06 : Here are some additional pictures (below) of the Lyons Building on Watt Ave. in Sacramento from another angle . It still sits there vacant today and has not been torn down as thought back in November of 2005 . I heard from the property owner that Wal-Mart has leased that Jetsons style building for 15 years for meetings and stuff . Many thanks to John Flores for update. 05-06
Update 03/07 : Another coffee shop treasure has been obliterated off the roadside landscape. Demolition began on the Lyons Restaurant on 2945 Watt Avenue in Sacramento on March 5, 2007 about a week after a back hoe was spotted outside the suddenly fenced off Lyons on February 27, 2007. Many thanks to John Flores for update. 03-07 Photo of Lyon's last days can be found at Roadside Peek's Spotlight From the Road Lyon's Restaurant.
