Roadside Cafes San Diego

101 Cafe
Oceanside, CA

Located in Oceanside, the 101 Cafe features a painted mural on its side wall. The marquee also is a throwback to the cruisin' era with its coffee cup and familiar pointed red arrow. 03-05

UPDATE 12/06 : The 101 Cafe was originally opened in 1928. It was last remodeled as a drive-in in 1954. It has the drive-in look and feel. The photo is from our Photo Day promotion where people bring their cars in and we photograph them.  In the last two years, we have had over three hundred cars. Many thanks to John Daley, Owner/Partner of the 101 Cafe for photo and info. 12-06

UPDATE 01/08 : The photo of our mural is out of date as it was replaced it after a car crashed into our building a few years ago.  The 101 Cafe also celebrates its 80th birthday next year.  It is pretty cool that this Icon still stands considering our community has grown from less than 10,000 to over 180,000.  The cruise along the 101 through Oceanside is a flashback in time. Many thanks to John Daley, Owner/Partner of the 101 Cafe for photos and info. 01-08

Night & Day Cafe
San Diego, CA

In Coronado on Orange Avenue is the Night & Day Cafe. Serves hot eats 'round the clock. This place perhaps goes back to the 30's or 40's and possibly was a popular stop for WWII sailors after a night on the town in San Diego.
