Fancy hanging out after school at Gar-Duno's ... with its video games and greasy fast food, what else could you want? Well, at least in the past. Today, this location is closed and the sign looks like it's just about history.
Here's The Munch Box, an old roadside stand that's been a Chatsworth landmark for almost 50 years. The Munchbox hamburger stand (circa 1956) has been added to the Cultural Heritage Commission's list of historic-cultural monuments.
This neon sign sits out front of Johnie's French Dip in Venice, CA.
Here's a Taco Tio Hamburgers with its trademark cactus sign. Yep, just how many businesses can boast of both an easy off and on ramp. That sign is located right off the 5 freeway (just like the sign says) in La Mirada, CA. It isn't a restaurant anymore. I don't think it's been a restaurant since the 80's. It's now a used work truck lot. Many thanks to Stefanie Apel for info above.
The Hat is world famous for its pastrami sandwiches. First opening in 1951, this Alhambra location was the first The Hat of 10 restaurants. 04-06
Here's a Tacos to go sign that may be reminiscent of a neighbor taco chain.
Here's the old bucket and orange paint for Dinah's Chicken, a sign which at first glance will look like you've reached the home of the Colonel instead. The aroma of good ol' fried chicken will make you hungry for a bucket or two.
Here's a good reminder of the era where a good lookin' sign was almost
as important as the food served within. Queens Fine Food
features a rather unique sign featuring an interesting queen character
carrying a hot dish. Check out the colors on this sign, (Far left) A look at the Queens marquee. (Left) A couple of additional views of the Queens site.
