Long Beach is home to the All 8 Motel and this roadside sign. Or it was. The sign and motel were torn down a few years ago. 01-07
Check out this marquee for the Colonial Motel, located along Route 66 in Azusa, CA. Unfortunately, this marquee was replaced several years ago by backlit plastic. 01-07
This marquee is one of the signs at the Paradise Motel in Los Angeles. This motel glows in purple brilliance at night. 09-06
Check out the Sunny Cal Motel in San Gabriel, CA. Once part of the old highway through town, the Sunny Cal was torn down several years ago for a Hilton Hotel. 05-06
This fine motel sign for the Manhattan Motel is located in Glendale, CA. The rich red and blue colors really make this sign an eye-catcher. 09-06
The Wagon Wheel motel and restaurant complex is a familiar sight as you pass Oxnard traveling along the 101 Freeway.
(Far left) Interior of Wagon Wheel Motel According to the December 21, 2006 issue of the Ventura County Reporter, the Oxnard Village Investments LLC has purchased the Wagon Wheel parcel of land with proposed plans to develop 1,500 residential units and a commercial complex. Possible milestones coming up soon include a draft environmental impact report in February or March of 2007 with demolition starting up in September 2007. 01-07 Many thanks to Jeff Babb for contact regarding motel and restaurant closure.
Located along Route 66 in Rialto, CA, the Wigwam Motel has been a roadside curiosity and sleep over since 1949. One of a chain of Wigwam Motels, the Rialto location features a sign on the side of the building that say "Do it in a tee pee" like it did in the old days. 06-07 Below are more photos of the Wigwam Motel in Rialto, including photos of the tee pee cluster of rooms themselves.
