Yes, it's a big chicken! Reconstructed from a Big Chicken Restaurant in the mid-1990's, this Kentucky Fried Chicken is sure to raise a few eyebrows for those that pass by this site (and sight!) in Marietta, Georgia. With its rolling eyes and giant beak that still opens and closes, it's hard to drive past without smiling.

The oversized chicken first appeared in the early 1960s as part of a local family restaurant. When Kentucky Fried Chicken later took over the site, the famous bird stayed right where it belonged. After a major restoration in the 1990s, the giant chicken continued doing what it has always done, catching the attention of just about everyone who drives by.

Locals have used the Big Chicken as a landmark for so long that giving directions often begins with, "Turn left at the Big Chicken." It's become much more than a restaurant sign. It's one of those roadside attractions that makes a road trip a little more memorable.

UPDATE: The Big Chicken remains one of Georgia's best-known roadside landmarks, welcoming customers to a busy KFC while its famous eyes and beak continue entertaining passing motorists. 08-26
