A retro marquee marks Sabatini’s Liquor on Rosecrans Street in San Diego’s Point Loma neighborhood. Check out the lettering advertising liquor and delicatessen together. Pick up something cold and, at least according to the sign, take care of lunch while stopping by.
The family-owned business has operated under the Sabatini name since 1990, becoming a longtime neighborhood stop. The marquee’s installation date hasn’t been established, but its older styling adds a little character to the Rosecrans Street scenery. Another reason to keep an eye above the storefronts while heading through Point Loma.
UPDATE: Sabatini’s remains open as a family-owned liquor and convenience store, with its retro marquee surviving. The sign still advertises a delicatessen, but current offerings emphasize packaged drinks and snacks rather than a traditional full-service deli counter. The lettering has held onto a little of the shop’s earlier menu, even as the choices inside have changed. 10-26
