Here is the neon lit marquee for the Tropicana Motel. The lit up sign was more impressive than the motel grounds. Word is this motel originally opened its doors in 1958. 12-06

Check out the marquee at the Grand Canyon Motel in Fredonia, AZ. Fredonia is located at the border of Arizona and Utah and is located north of the Grand Canyon National Park and southeast of Zion National Park. 06-09

 

 

 

 

Wayward Winds Lodge (Replaced)

The Wayward Winds Motel features an old motel sign that was once commonplace along the Miracle Mile in Tucson. The motel dates back to 1958. This neon lettering on the marquee that used to light up the main drag into town has been replaced in recent years with plain painted lettering. 11-09

 

UPDATE 11/09 : The Wayward Winds Motel is no longer a motel as it's being converted into a women's shelter. Many thanks to Richard Moeur for update. 11-09

 

Flamingo Motel
Tucson, AZ

The Flamingo Hotel has underwent different ownership changes over the years. The Flamingo was built back in the day, 1952 to be exact, by Del Webb who is known for building the Flamingo in Las Vegas. The sign was installed in 1962.

Later in 2011, the hotel became the Quality Inn Flamingo. Today the property is listed as permanently closed. 06-23
