Here's the front of the former Cohen's Department Store in Coolidge, AZ. Built in 1952, the Cohen's building features some distinct elements from mid-century building design.

Cohen's eventually changed ownership and became Brooks Popular Department Store before closing down in 1987. There is a mural in front of the store that illustrates the history of the area, including images of the Casa Grande Ruins. 03-06

Flash TV & Appliances
Tucson, AZ

Here is the Flash TV & Appliances store located off a main road in Tucson. The sign is very distinct with its 70's looking colors and the neon appears to pop on the sign.

While the Flash TV business started in 1952, the building and sign date to 1965 and brings back nostalgia for the mid century with a structure that brings reminders of other stores that used to dot the roadside.

The business closed around 2012 and sat vacant for several years. Today, the site is home of The Flash which according to The Flash website is a "smart apartment community that features a restored mid-century modern appliance store on historic 6th Avenue (formerly The Flash TV) located just south of Downtown Tucson in the emerging 5-Points Neighborhood. The complex consists of 3 buildings with 52 apartments and 5 renovated retail spaces, including 12 two-story live/work units with 12-foot-tall exposed ceilings". 06-23
