The Globe Theatre in the Arizona town of Globe is still open for business and showing movies. Not quite sure how far back this theatre in the main part of Globe dates back to.

UPDATE 11/05 : The Globe Theatre was severely damaged in a fire on July 16, 2005. Word is that efforts to secure restoration funding are underway. 11-05

UPDATE 10/06 : The historic Globe Theater was built 1917 in the art deco style. Art deco murals were painted on the wall of the interior one-screen theater. The balcony was beautiful. The theater also featured locally mined copper-covered pillars under the marquee. After the devastating fire, Globe-Miami's own Globe Theater is being rebuilt.

The theater will be built over the lot of the building next store that was the Trust/Hotel building. The new GLOBE will be built with four screens and stadium seating. A brick face will surround the theater using some of the original bricks from the Hotel. The marquee is being spruced up a bit; the original marquee was changed in the 1960's-1970, but is being put back to the original design with neon lighting all around the historic sign. After the restoration of the marquee, the marquee will be place on the corner of Broad and Cedar Streets. This an exciting move forward for this historic small-town community. Many thanks to Patrick Ryan for update. 10-06
