Here's the Ferguson's Downtown Motel and its super-bright sign.
The Lucky Motel in Las Vegas still lights up the sky. And yes, the neon marquee advertises its amenities such as air conditioning and even TV. Update 07/07 : The Lucky Motel marquee no longer stands along Fremont Street. 07-07
Here's the Blue Angel Motel. And yes, this place has a larger than life size blue angel atop its roof.
Here are a couple of close up shots of the aforementioned blue angel. Still carrying her magic wand,this blonde angel faces out towards Fremont Street.
For some reason, all of the towns with top notch motels have at least one named the City Center. Here's one on Fremont Street that is close to the Fremont Street Experience. Update 07/06 : The City Center Motel was replaced with a Day's Inn a couple of years ago. The sign is in now in the sign boneyard. 07-06
The Black Jack Motel has a name that typifies the old Vegas. Black Jack Motel Marquee Close-up Update 08/06 : The Black Jack Motel was demolished sometime during the summer of 2006. Like its former neighbor across the street, the Showboat/Castaways, the Black Jack and its classic Vegas sign is history. (Below) Here are a couple of views of the Black Jack Motel as it stood along the Boulder Highway. To the left is a shot of the marquee and motel units. (Left) The Desert Hills Motel on Fremont Street features a relatively nondescript, yet classic sign. The sign appears to be a recent replacement.
