Lux Theatre

Route 66The Lux Theatre in Grants is still standing, despite being closed. The marquee on the facade is still intact.

The Lux Theatre dates back to 1937. The blank marquee has been there since the 1970's when the theater closed down. It's good to see the theater still remaining intact to this day.

To the far right, the State Theatre looks like a freshly minted theatre along the main drag of town.

 

 

Totah Theatre

Here's the Totah Theatre in Farmington, NM. The name Totah is what the Navajos call Farmington.

 

 

Aztec Theatre

Between Durango, CO and Farmington, NM is a small town called Aztec. Located in the downtown area is the Aztec Theatre and its fancy marquee. This town is best known for the Aztec Indian ruins located nearby.

 

 

 

 

 

 

El Raton Theatre

The El Raton Theatre in Raton, NM has been in existence for over 70 years. Unfortunately, the theatre closed its doors in 2006 and has not reopened as of now. 07-07

UPDATE 05/08 : The El Raton Theatre in downtown Raton, NM has been purchased, and was slated to be re-opened on May 23, 2008.

According to the April 22, 2008 edition of The Raton Range, new owners Kerry and Kristie Medina, Ted and Traci Kam, and Neil and Donna Emiro, became the new owners of the El Raton Theatre after the sale was completed in mid-April. The theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in January 2007.  Many thanks to Neil V. Emiro for update. 05-08

 

 

Odeon Theatre

Route 66Here's a shot of the Odeon Theatre, which is located near Route 66 in Tucumcari, NM. This theatre is still open for movies. Check out the neon blade sign on the side of the old theatre. 03-08
