Johnwell Upholstery
Roseburg, OR Photo by RoadsidePeek.com
You don't expect to find much neon at an upholstery shop, which is probably why this one catches your eye. The bright script spelling out Johnwell Upholstery gives the storefront a classic roadside look and is a nice reminder of an earlier era. 11-20
The business has been serving the Roseburg area since 1947, repairing and customizing everything from car interiors to boat tops and RV covers. It's the kind of place that reminds you when skilled craftsmen and neon signs were both common sights around town.
UPDATE: Johnwell Upholstery remains in business, and the vintage neon lettering is still in place on the front of the building. 07-26
Yellow Basket (Closed)
Roseburg, OR Photo by RoadsidePeek.com
The bright yellow sign was hard to miss if you happened to be driving by. Yellow Basket looked like the kind of roadside burger stand where you could pull in for a quick bite before getting back on the highway. 11-20
Not much is known about this little Roseburg restaurant today, but it once sat next to the local Grange and across from a grain elevator. Even with so little information, the cheerful sign was memorable enough to deserve a photograph.
UPDATE: The Yellow Basket has since closed. The current status of the roadside sign is unknown. 07-26
