Roadside Taverns Florida

The first thing that catches your eye is the boomerang-shaped roadside sign. Clementi's Lounge may have changed over the years, but that classic mid-century sign has managed to outlast the business it once advertised. It still adds a little vintage character to busy Armenia Avenue.

Clementi's was a familiar neighborhood lounge through the 1990s before giving way to a series of other nightlife spots. While the building and parking lot were completely remodeled, someone had the good sense to leave the old boomerang sign standing. It's been updated with new faces over the years, but the unmistakable shape is still there for anyone who remembers the original.

UPDATE: The property now operates as a nightclub, and the vintage boomerang sign frame continues to survive with newer signage. 07-26

Also in the area is the El Cap Sports Pub which has been open for 34 years. They have been voted "best burger" by local publications. The sign, like the Grant Motel's is a classic. Many thanks to Steve/Back on Tack for info.

The bold roadside sign has been letting hungry motorists know they've arrived at El Cap Restaurant for generations. It doesn't try to be flashy, but it's the kind of sign that's become a familiar landmark along 4th Street, especially if you're craving a good burger.

What began as a neighborhood tavern in 1958 was transformed into a burger joint a few years later, earning a loyal following that has lasted for decades. The no-frills atmosphere, sports memorabilia covering the walls, and the famous World Champ Hamburger have kept locals and visitors coming back ever since. It's the kind of place where the regulars know exactly what they're ordering before they walk through the door.

UPDATE: El Cap remains open today under new ownership, and the classic roadside sign continues welcoming burger fans just as it has for decades. 07-26
