The Hong Kong Cafe opened in 1962 by the Gee family and became a Flagstaff institution. The locals love this place for its friendly atmosphere and good reasonably priced food. Unfortunately time goes by and the Hong Kong Restaurant like so many others ended up competing with other chain restaurants for help and the business became difficult to run.

The Hong Kong Cafe closed its doors for the last time on July 23, 2004. A Flagstaff institution ran its course and became a Mexican food restaurant. Now the location is the Karma Sushi Bar. 09-21

Grand Canyon Cafe (Closed)
Flagstaff, AZ

Route 66Here's the neon sign for the Grand Canyon Cafe located off of the main Route 66 in Flagstaff, AZ. The sign advertises the chop suey that was featured at the restaurant.

The Grand Canyon Cafe has been run by the Wong family since 1945. In 2016, the Wong family decided it was time to retire and sold the restaurant to 4 local business owners who attempted to restore and bring the restaurant up to code. Unfortunately it was not to be due to less tourist traffic less visits from regulars who were used to the old menu.

Proper Meats + Provisions which is a local deli and butcher shop has now moved into the building. The signage both on the building and marquee still stands. 09-12

Here are more photos of the Grand Canyon Cafe. More will be coming soon.
