Some say that the next motels to go in Vegas are the ones on the north side of the strip like the Fun City and the Holiday Motel. Say it ain't so! With the loss of the Tam O'Shanter and the soon to be sayonara to the La Concha, the old mid-century motels along the strip are becoming a rarity. This marquee for the Holiday is a one of a kind... just perfect for its proximity to Circus Circus and a flashback to the old Holiday Inn signs of yesteryear. Yes, the Vegas Neon Museum may be able to save this sign and put it up in a museum somewhere, but it sure wouldn't be the same thing. C'mon Vegas, leave some of your fantastic relics of your past for all to remember and treasure.
The old Bonanza Lodge sign still somewhat lights up along Fremont Street. Seems like more and more of the Fremont signs are going dim these days.
Somerset Motel This fine neon sign, also featuring the starburst them, belongs to the Somerset Motel near the Convention Center.
Another of the boulder highway motels is still lit up... this one for the Gatewood Motel. All the lights make this roadside motels somewhat inviting.
Western Hotel Though not a motel per se, this neon sign for the Western Hotel fits on this page because.. 'er .. it happened to be in the batch of files that I put aside for this neon motel update. A fine sign nonetheless.
Here's another brightly lit neon motel sign along Fremont Street that always seems to be on. The Ferguson's Motel is fun to see and servers as a flashback to what all of Fremont used to look like in its heyday.
How can you have a Vegas motel page without a photo of a sign from the Vegas Motel. This shot of the marquee shows the sign decently lit up.
Here's a fine looking marquee for the Ambassador East Motel that always seems to be lit up along the old Fremont Street. UPDATE 07/10 : The Ambassador East Motel was demolished in 2007. The sign remained for a time and will be part of the neon museum collection. 07-10
Not sure if the Rummel Motel is too close for comfort to "progress" in Vegas. Check out the motel sign in its neon glory and its special advertisement of its neon pool.
