Hut's Hamburgers is yet another famous eatery that shut its doors down in recent years. Hut's closed its doors for good on October 20, 2019 with the owner citing they were ready to move in a different direction. Hut's had opened in 1939 along South Congress before moving to its current location on West 6th Street in 1969.

Well, Austin locals and roadside fans will miss the burgers, fries, and milkshakes as well as the old roadside ambience. Favorite Liquor & Wine Shop next door will close at the end of 2019 as well with rumors a residential tower will take its place. High property taxes appear to be a driver here.
