Here's a sign for a uniquely named motel. The St-Elmo-Tel Motel in Austin, Texas references St Elmo for some reason. This motel and its well named sign has been an Austin landmark for many years as it sits along a busy highway.

UPDATE 10/06 : The St-Elmo-Tel Motel located on S Congress Avenue will soon be no more. During a visit in September, 2006, the motel buildings were in the process of being demolished. Word is the sign itself has been purchased by a sign collector. 10-06

An old roadside motel establishment, The Dude Motel emanates style and character as well as a flashback to yesteryear when independently owner motor hotels were all the rage. This oft photographed motel features neon lettering on the building.

This old roadside motel sign sits outside of the historic 66 Courts in Groom, TX. Yes, this is the same Groom of the leaning water tower and giant cross.

UPDATE 11/10 : Here's another photo of the 66 Courts, formerly of Groom. The 66 Courts was razed over several years ago. The sign was rescued and will be on display in a bar and grill in Ohio. 11-10

UPDATE 08/21 : Here are a couple of additional photos of the 66 Courts. Groom Texas doesn't look the same. After these photos were taken around 2000 or so, it was disappointing to find out that would be the last seen of this roadside gem as the motel and the Magnolia Station next door were demolished shortly after. 08-21
