Hungry but with a sweet tooth to boot? Then stop at the Sugar Bowl Restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois and cool off with a bowl of ice cream in an air conditioned shop. The sign itself is worth a stop too. It has been up at the Sugar Bowl site since 1957. See more at the Sugar Bowl website.

Here's the Denver Grill in Tulsa, OK. This roadside delight is just days away from being bulldozed for a new arena. Although the food is not the greatest, the history of this restaurant, dating back to 1933, is something else.

Also of note is the colorful marquee that looks like a firework shooting off into the night sky.

The marquee for Phil's Bar-B-Q was recently refurbished and painted. The little piggy face of the character holding the sign is now much more prominent. 12-05
