Route 66On the eastern end of the Route 66 town of Seligman is this gem of a sign. Called the Stagecoach 66, this roadside motel still beckons to tourists and visitors alike who venture on the Mother Road.

The motel originally started up under a different name. Known as the Bill-Mar Den Motel in the 1960s, the motel featured 44 rooms for sleepy travelers passing down Route 66. While the town of Seligman had cause of concern due to decreased business when the I-40 bypassed the old road, the Stagecoach 66 has survived. 08-06

UPDATE 09/21 : Check out the Stagecoach 66 Motel between 1998 and 2020. The sign and motel still look great over 20 years later. 09-21

Route 66Along the revitalized Route 66, many of the businesses are proudly capturing the essence of the old road by displaying maps of the route not to mention prominent display of the Route 66 shield. This motel is no exception. 10-06

Route 66Travel the east bound direction of Route 66 in Winslow, AZ and you will come across the Knotty Pines Motel and its classic sign. The Knotty Pines Motel originally opened in 1958 and the 45 units at this roadside motel were owned by Ralph Miller and Bill Martin. The Bears Den then became the restaurant and lounge on site.

The Knotty Pines Motel was for the most part demolished and the site is now home to a place called Tom's Tavern. 09-21

Route 66The Route 66 Motel is a familiar sight to see off of Route 66 in Kingman. The neon arrow is animated and directs your attention into the parking lot which can be a relief, especially after a long hot day on the road. The Route 66 Motel was originally the Pony Soldier Motel complete with 25 rooms when it was built in 1963. 10-08

Here's a closer up look at the Route 66 Motel sign in Kingman. The big swooping arrow is quite a sight to see.
