Vada's Motel (Remodeled)
Yuba City, CA

Off the roadside in Yuba City is this head turner of an old mid-century motel. Or at least was. Unfortunately, the Vada's Motel no longer sports the same signage and the overhang was redone. 02-07

Stockton City Motel
Stockton, CA

The Stockton City Motel is or was located in a rundown part of town. Not sure if the motel and the sign still exist. 02-07

Here's a shot of the Coral Reef Motel on Fulton Avenue, in the Arden Arcade area of Sacramento.  It is of the Tiki theme.  Unfortunately it too was torn down recently. 06-07

This old marquee for the Beach Hill Court shows off the sun that Santa Cruz is known for. 09-08

The Town House Motel off of Highway 395 in Bishop features a marquee with a big ol' yellow swooping arrow. 09-08

Capri Motel
Santa Clara, CA
Photos and info courtesy Heather David

Here's the Capri Motel, which is a cute little mid-century roadside motel, located on El Camino Real in Santa Clara, CA. The Capri features ranch-style architecture with a wonderful Googie neon sign. The Capri Motel has been in business since 1958.

A roadside motel like this sure beats those nearby chain motels, completely devoid of character. 02-09

The Experience Lodge (Demolished)
West Sacramento, CA

The Experience Lodge is a familiar sight for those that traveled along old West Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento. One of the first motels around the corner after heading west over the bridge, The Experience Lodge was known as a seedy place with a great sign.

Unfortunately for roadside fans, the motel was closed and eventually demolished in April 2008. See more photos and get more information on this former West Sacramento motel legend at Roadside Peek's Lost Treasures - The Experience Motel. 03-09
