The Park Motel is still open in Sparks, with its old vintage marquee standing right near the roadside.

Zanzibar Motel (Closed)

The Zanzibar Motel's marquee looks somewhat worse for wear. This motel no longer sits alongside the main drag.

UPDATE 12/08 : The Zanzibar Motel is now closed and fenced off. The top of the marquee is gone with only the orange part at the bottom remaining. 12-08

UPDATE 03/09 : Two former roadside businesses along Reno's main drag Virginia Street will be torn down soon after a Reno City Council meeting this past week. The Zanzibar Motel and the Zanzibar Lounge had been closed for some time and are located in a Reno redevelopment district near the Peppermill and Atlantis casinos. More information can be found in this Reno Gazette-Journal article. 12-08

The Sage Motel is another old roadside motel that hearkens back to an earlier era. This motel was demolished sometime around 2004 as the whole block was razed.

(Below) Next door to the Sage Motel was the Gold Key Motel. This motel featured interesting architecture and a large neon "Motel and Pool" rooftop sign. The motel also was destroyed.
