Coffee Shops Pacific Northwest

Aurora Coffee Shop
Seattle, WA

The Aurora Coffee Shop is a flash back to the coffee shop modern look, with its swooping boomerang shape and lots of glass throughout. This coffee shop may have once been a Sambo's.

UPDATE 07/07 : The Aurora Coffee Shop has too gone to the great fryer in the sky. They closed two years ago and the building was sold to a U-rent company. Fortunately, they haven't changed the building that much but the original soul of the building is very much gone - all that is left is the shell. Hopefully one day it will return to it's former greasy glory! Many thanks to Michele Gould for update. 07-07

China Buffet

This China Buffet Restaurant looks somewhat similar to the Aurora Restaurant above. It looks like they may have been a part of the same chain. In fact, the restaurant looks like it was a Sambo's Restaurant back in the day. 09-05

Waddle's (Remodeled)
Portland, OR

As you travel down the highway, you'll suddenly run across a neon sign telling you to "Eat Now at Waddle's". After blinking rapidly a few times, you'll pull over and see the Waddle's coffee shop in all its mid-century modern grace in Portland, OR. Unfortunately, the place has now turned into a Hooter's Restaurant and the sign has been altered. 12-06

Pancake Chef

The Pancake Chef restaurant in Seattle near the airport is still open for business. The little chef character on the sign and the look and colors of the marquee make the Pancake Chef an intriguing place to visit. 01-08

Hi-Ho Restaurant (Gone?)

Here's the Hi-Ho Restaurant and its sign off the highway in Grants Pass, OR. I don't believe this restaurant is still around. The photo was taken in 2001 or 2002. 11-20
