The South of the Border is literally on the North-South Carolina border. It's an interesting restaurant and souvenir complex on US Rte 301, and I95. "Pedro" has been serving north-south travelers since the mid 1950s, first on Route 301 and now on I95. Check out Pedro in the huge marquee on the right. This old roadside sign sits outside of the Clarksdale Sales and Service. This Louisville, KY business hearkens back to the day when mom and pop repair shops used to be the norm.
The Westinghouse sign is from Rowland Supply Co. in Rowland, NC. The store no longer sells appliances, it's now a church, but at least the parishners left the sign.
On US Hwy 52 in Norwood, NC is an old Food King sign, still standing sentry over the lot that the store used to occupy. Update 03/06 : The Food King sign is now gone. It was removed in 2005 when a new auto-parts store was erected on the property along US 52 in Norwood, NC. Many thanks to Richard Maxwell for update. 03-06
Here's an old sign stuck on the wall outside of John's Florist, located in Louisville, KY.
This roadside find is the rooftop sign for the OK Storage, Louisville, KY. Check out the rather prominent sign atop the roof as well as the painted advertisement on the side of the building. Not sure if this place still exists.
The Speier Hardware sign still stands tall outside of the business its associated with in Louisville, KY. Check out the neon lettering on this rooftop sign.
Bob's Auto Wreckers in Louisville features a sign that contains one of those catchy phrases that you can't forget. Yes, "don't be robbed ... see Bob" is one you'll remember after the first time you hear or see it.
The Cinderella is a store in downtown Meridian located next to an empty Kress Store.
