Here's an old jewelry store sign found off an old main street in Tifton, GA. The Central Jewelry marquee still features an old clock on its sign. Plus the sign prominently advertises cash and credit. 06-06
This mural is painted on an outer wall of Grimes Memorial Methodist Church located on Summer Avenue. I believe it was done by a member of that church several years ago. I used to work with a lady who attended church there and that was the information I got from her. I know it's hard to judge from the picture the size of the painting, but it takes up almost the entire outer wall. 07-06
An older Independent super market is a rare find these days, Cookeville, TN still has one, along with it unique street sign. Unfortunately, the old neon doesn't work anymore on this sign for the Spring St. Super Market. 08-06
Here is the Skateland sign over the entrance of a skating rink. Sadly, the building caught fire and burned a few months ago and the owner didn't carry insurance so it's not certain if the rink will reopen. Maddux Hardware was a longtime fixture in downtown Cookeville TN. The old neon sign is all that remains but probably not for much longer, the old store is being converted to office space. 08-06 Update 06/07 : Maddux Hardware was slated for auction July 30, 2005 a few days after I passed through town. Check out this roadside sign out front of the Viking Distillery Inc building in Albany, GA. Viking Distillery is called out as "Georgia's first legal distillery." 09-06
Here's a Skull and Crossbones sign in Memphis. Not sure what this is supposed to be advertising. It's located in a parking lot in a business district. 09-06
Giles Builders Supply is a longtime local builder supply company located on Pine Avenue in Albany, GA. 09-06
Here's a shot of the plastic sign out front of the Atomic Pest Control in Memphis. The giant mouse eating a giant chunk of cheese on the roof of an exterminating company. 09-06
